(22) โAnd among His signs is the creation of the heavens and earth, and the diversity of your languages and colors. Surely in that are signs for people of knowledge.โ
People of knowledge are those who understand the lessons contained therein and contemplate the signs. The signs in this are many. Among the signs found in the creation of the heavens and earth and all they contain is that this demonstrates the greatness of Allahโs sovereignty and the perfection of His power, by which He brought these immense creations into existence; the perfection of His wisdom, evident in their precise design; and the vastness of His knowledge, for the Creator must necessarily know what He has created: โHow could He who created not know?โ It also demonstrates the all-encompassing nature of His mercy and grace, evident in the immense benefits they contain; that He possesses will and chooses whatever He wishes, as shown by their distinctive features and advantages; and that He alone deserves to be worshipped and affirmed as One. Since He alone creates, He must be worshipped alone. All of these are rational proofs to which Allah has drawn the attention of human minds, commanding them to reflect upon them and derive lessons from them.
Likewise, there are signs in โthe diversity of your languages and colors.โ Despite your great numbers and differences, your origin is one and the points of articulation are the same. Yet you will not find two voices identical in every respect, nor two colors completely alike, without some difference by which they may be distinguished. This demonstrates the perfection of His power and the irresistible execution of His will.
And [part of] (1) His care for His servants and His mercy toward them is that He ordained this diversity, lest people become indistinguishable, resulting in confusion and preventing many aims and needs from being fulfilled.
