(60) “How many a creature does not carry its own provision! Allah provides for it and for you. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”

That is, the Creator, Mighty and Majestic, has guaranteed the provision of all creatures, strong and helpless alike. How many a “creature” on earth is weak in strength and understanding! It “does not carry its own provision” or store it away. Rather, it continually has no provision at hand, yet Allah continually makes provision available to it at every appropriate time.

“Allah provides for it and for you.” You are all dependent upon Allah, who provides for you just as He created you and directs your affairs. “He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing”: nothing whatsoever is hidden from Him, and no creature perishes for lack of provision because it was concealed from His knowledge.

As Allah Most High says: “There is no creature on earth whose provision is not undertaken by Allah. He knows its dwelling place and its place of storage. All is in a clear record.”
