Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(49) “Rather, it consists of clear signs in the hearts of those who have been given knowledge. None deny Our signs except the wrongdoers.”

That is, “Rather,” this Quran consists of “clear signs,” not obscure ones, “in the hearts of those who have been given knowledge.” They are the leaders of creation, its wise and discerning people, and its most accomplished.

Since these clear signs reside in the hearts of such people, they constitute proof against others. The denial of others does them no harm and can only be wrongdoing. Thus He says: “None deny Our signs except the wrongdoers,” for none denies them except an ignorant person who speaks without knowledge and fails to follow the people of knowledge, despite being able to know the Quran as it truly is; or someone who feigns ignorance, knowing it to be the truth yet stubbornly resisting it, and recognizing its truthfulness yet opposing it.
