Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(67) “But as for those who repent, believe, and do righteous deeds, they may well be among the successful.”

After mentioning that He will question His creation about those they worshipped and about His messengers, Allah Most High explains the path by which a servant may escape His punishment. There is no salvation except for those who repent of associating partners with Allah and committing sins, believe in Allah and worship Him, believe in His messengers and affirm their truthfulness, and perform righteous deeds in accordance with their teachings. Thus, whoever possesses all these qualities “may well be among the successful”—those who attain what they seek and are delivered from what they fear. There is no path to success without these things.
