(79โ81) โSo put your trust in Allah; surely you are upon the manifest truth. You cannot make the dead hear, nor can you make the deaf hear the call when they turn their backs and depart. Nor can you guide the blind away from their error. You can make only those who believe in Our signs hear, for they are those who submit.โ
That is, rely upon your Lord to bring about benefits and ward off harm, to convey the message, establish the religion, and strive against the enemies. โSurely you are upon the manifest truthโโthe clear truth. One who stands upon the truth, calls to it, and strives to uphold it is more entitled than anyone else to place his trust in Allah, for he is pursuing a cause whose certainty and truth are known, without doubt or misgiving. Moreover, it is a truth of the utmost clarity, with neither obscurity nor ambiguity. If you fulfill the duty entrusted to you and place your trust in Allah while doing so, the error of those who go astray will not harm you, and you are not responsible for guiding them. Hence He says: โYou cannot make the dead hear, nor can you make the deaf hear the call.โ
That is, when you call and summon themโespecially โwhen they turn their backs and depart,โ for this makes their inability to hear all the more pronounced.
โNor can you guide the blind away from their error,โ as Allah Most High says: โYou cannot guide whomever you love, but Allah guides whomever He wills.โ โYou can make only those who believe in Our signs hear, for they are those who submit.โ That is, these are the people who yield to you: those who believe โฆ610โฆ in Allahโs signs and yield to them through their deeds and submission. As Allah Most High says: โOnly those who hear will respond. As for the dead, Allah will resurrect them; then to Him they will be returned.โ
