⦗63⦘ “Or who is it that guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea, and sends the winds as glad tidings ahead of His mercy? Is there any deity alongside Allah? Exalted is Allah above what they associate with Him.”
That is: Who guides you when you are amid the darknesses of the land and sea, where there is no visible guide or landmark and no means of deliverance except His guidance, His making the way easy, and the means He has provided by which you find your way? “And who sends the winds as glad tidings ahead of His mercy?” That is, ahead of the rain. He sends them, and they stir up the clouds, bring them together, gather them, fertilize them, and cause them to pour forth rain. Thus, the servants rejoice at this before the rain descends.
“Is there any deity alongside Allah” that has done this? Or is He alone the One who has done it? Why, then, have you associated others with Him and worshipped other than Him? “Exalted is Allah above what they associate with Him.” He is supremely exalted, free, and holy above their polytheism and their equating others with Him.
