“They never bring you an argument without Our bringing you the truth and the best explanation.”
Hence He says, “They never bring you an argument” with which they oppose the truth and seek to discredit your message “without Our bringing you the truth and the best explanation.” That is, We have revealed to you a Quran that encompasses the truth in its meanings and complete clarity and lucidity in its wording. All its meanings are true and truthful, entirely untainted by falsehood or doubt. Its wording and its delineation of matters employ the clearest expressions and provide the finest exposition, elucidating the meanings perfectly.
This verse indicates that anyone who speaks about religious knowledge—whether a lecturer ⦗583⦘, teacher, or preacher—should follow the example of his Lord in how He attended to the circumstances of His Messenger. Likewise, the scholar should attend to the circumstances of the people: whenever a need arises or an occasion presents itself, he should cite Quranic verses, Prophetic hadiths, and admonitions appropriate to it.
It also refutes those among the Jahmiyyah and their like who resort to strained interpretation, believing that many Quranic texts must be understood contrary to their apparent meaning and that they have meanings other than what is ordinarily understood from them. According to their claim, then, the Quran would not offer a better explanation than anything else. Rather, they allege that the best explanation is their own—the explanation to accommodate which they have thoroughly distorted the meanings.
