Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(95) “It is impossible for the people of any town We have destroyed to return.”

That is, the destroyed and punished peoples cannot return to this world to make amends for what they neglected. There is no way back for anyone once they have been destroyed and punished. Those being addressed should therefore beware of persisting in what warrants destruction, lest it befall them and become impossible to avert. They should desist while they still have the opportunity and time to do so.
