(76–77) “And remember Noah, when he called out long before. We answered him and saved him and his family from the great distress. We helped him against the people who denied Our signs. They were indeed an evil people, so We drowned them all.”
That is: Remember Our servant and messenger Noah (peace be upon him), praising and commending him. Allah sent him to his people, and he remained among them for a thousand years less fifty, calling them to worship Allah and forbidding them to associate partners with Him. He repeated his appeal to them time and again, calling them privately and publicly, by night and by day. When he saw that admonition had no effect on them and rebuke was of no avail, he called upon his Lord, saying, “My Lord, do not leave a single disbeliever dwelling upon the earth.” ⦗528⦘ Allah answered him, drowning them without leaving a single one alive. Allah saved Noah, his family, and the believers with him in the fully laden Ark. He made Noah’s descendants the survivors, and Allah granted them victory over his people who had mocked him.
