(47) “We shall set up the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, and no soul will be wronged in the least. Even if it is the weight of a mustard seed, We shall bring it forth. And sufficient are We as a Reckoner.”
Allah Most High informs us of His just judgment and equitable adjudication among His servants when He gathers them on the Day of Resurrection. He will set up for them just scales that disclose even the weights of the tiniest particles, by which good deeds ⦗525⦘ and evil deeds will be weighed. “No soul”—whether Muslim or disbelieving—“will be wronged in the least” by having anything deducted from its good deeds or added to its evil deeds.
“Even if it is the weight of a mustard seed”—the smallest and most insignificant of things—whether good or evil, “We shall bring it forth” and produce it so that its doer may be recompensed for it. This is like His saying:
“Whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it,
and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.”
And they will say, “Woe to us! What is the matter with this record, that it leaves no deed, small or great, without recording it?” And they will find all that they did present before them.
“And sufficient are We as a Reckoner.” By this, He means His noble Self. He is sufficient as a Reckoner: He knows the deeds of His servants, preserves them, records them in the Book, knows their measure and the measure of their reward, punishment, and deserts, and delivers their recompense to those who performed them.
