(95–97) and said, “What is the matter with you, O Sāmirī?” He replied, “I perceived what they did not perceive, so I took a handful from the messenger’s trail and cast it away. Thus did my soul entice me.” Moses said, “Go, then! Your lot in this life shall be to say, ‘Do not touch me!’ And you have an appointed time that you cannot escape. Look at your god, to which you remained devoted: we will surely burn it and then scatter it utterly into the sea.”
