(56–57) “And mention in the Book Idris. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet. * And We raised him to a lofty station.”
That is: Mention him in the Books (1) with veneration and reverence, describing him with attributes of perfection. “Idris. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.” Allah combined in him consummate truthfulness—which encompasses complete affirmation of the truth, perfect knowledge, firm certainty, and righteous deeds—with His choosing him to receive revelation and selecting him for His message.
“And We raised him to a lofty station.” That is, Allah exalted his renown among all peoples and his rank among those brought near to Him. Thus, his renown was exalted and his rank was lofty.
(1) Manuscript B reads: “in the Book.”
