﴿83-88﴾ “They ask you about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, ‘I shall recite to you an account of him.’”
The People of the Book or the polytheists had asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) about the story of Dhul-Qarnayn. Allah therefore commanded him to say, “I shall recite to you an account of him,” containing beneficial news and a remarkable narrative.
That is: I shall recount to you those aspects of his life that provide a reminder and serve as a lesson. As for the rest of his life, Allah did not recount it to them.
