(15) “These people of ours have taken gods besides Him. Why do they not produce clear proof for them? Who, then, is more unjust than one who fabricates a lie against Allah?”
After mentioning the faith and guidance Allah had bestowed upon them, they turned their attention (1) to their people’s practice of taking gods besides Allah. They detested them and explained that their people had no certainty to support their position but were, rather, steeped in ignorance and misguidance. They said: “Why do they not produce clear proof for them?”—that is, evidence and proof for the falsehood they followed. Yet they could never do so, for it was nothing but a fabrication against Allah and a lie attributed to Him. This is the gravest injustice. Hence He said: “Who, then, is more unjust than one who fabricates a lie against Allah?”
