(82) And His words: “We send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it only increases the wrongdoers in loss.”
The Quran contains healing and mercy, but not everyone receives these benefits. They are only for those who believe in it, affirm its verses, and act upon it. As for those who wrong themselves by neither believing in it nor acting upon it, its verses only increase them in loss, for through it the proof is established against them. The healing contained in the Quran encompasses the healing of hearts from doubts, ignorance, corrupt views, evil deviation, and wicked intentions (1).
It contains certain knowledge by which every doubt and form of ignorance is dispelled, as well as admonition and reminders by which every desire contrary to Allah’s command is removed. It also heals bodies of their pains and illnesses.
As for its mercy, the Quran contains and urges the adoption of means and ways which, whenever a servant follows them, enable him to attain mercy, everlasting happiness, and reward both in this world and the Hereafter.
