Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

⦗11⦘ “A person prays for evil just as he prays for good, for man is ever hasty.”

This stems from man’s ignorance and haste: when angry, he invokes evil against himself, his children, and his wealth, rushing to make such a prayer just as readily as he prays for good. Yet Allah, in His kindness (1), answers his prayer for good but does not answer his prayer for evil. “If Allah were to hasten evil for people as they seek to hasten good, their appointed term would already have been brought to an end.”

(1) In B: “out of His kindness.”
