Secondly: Ḥafṣ ibn Maysarah from Zayd:
It is recorded by Muslim (1/114–117), and likewise by al-Bukhārī (4581), though he did not cite it in full; the same applies to Abū ʿAwānah (1/168–169).
Thirdly: Hishām ibn Saʿd from Zayd:
It is recorded in full by Abū ʿAwānah (1/181–183), by Ibn Khuzaymah (p. 200), and by al-Ḥākim (4/582–584), who declared it authentic; Muslim (1/17) also cited it, but without reproducing its wording, merely referring back to the version narrated by Ḥafṣ ibn Maysarah, which conveys the same meaning.
Zayd is further corroborated by:
Sulaymān ibn ʿAmr ibn ʿUbayd al-ʿAtwārī—one of Banū Layth, who had been under the guardianship of Abū Saʿīd—who said: “I heard Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī say, ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say…,’” whereupon he narrated a concise version that contains the third additional clause.
It is recorded by Aḥmad (3/11–12), Ibn Khuzaymah (p. 211), Ibn Abī Shaybah in al-Muṣannaf (13/176/16039), and—via him—by Ibn Mājah (4280), Ibn Jarīr in his Tafsīr (16/85), Yaḥyā ibn Ṣāʿid in Zawāʾid al-Zuhd (p. 448/1268), and al-Ḥākim (4/585), who said: “Its chain of transmission is sound according to the criteria of Muslim.” ⦗30⦘
