ever).
Documentation:
Its chain of transmission (isnad) is sound according to the criteria of al-Bukhari and Muslim. It is transmitted by ʿAbd al-Razzaq from Maʿmar, and through ʿAbd al-Razzaq it was recorded by Ahmad (3/94), al-Nasaʾi (2/271), Ibn Majah (no. 60), Ibn Khuzaymah in al-Tawhid (pp. 184, 201, 212), and Ibn Nasr al-Marwazi in Taʿzim Qadr al-Salah (no. 276).
ʿAbd al-Razzaq is corroborated by Muhammad ibn Thawr, who also transmits it from Maʿmar; he did not reproduce the wording but merely said, “something to that effect,” referring to the hadith of Hisham ibn Saʿd whose documentation will follow.
Maʿmar is further supported by several narrators:
- Saʿid ibn Abi Hilal from Zayd ibn Aslam, with an even fuller wording that begins, “Do you find any difficulty in seeing the sun and the moon…,” the entire hadith. It was recorded by al-Bukhari (7439), Muslim (1/114-117), Ibn Khuzaymah as well (p. 201), and Ibn Hibban (7333 – al-Ihsan). ⦗29⦘
