Tafsir al-BaghawiAl-Baghawi

“How could I fear what you associate with Allah?”—meaning the idols, which neither see nor hear, neither harm nor benefit. “While you do not fear having associated with Allah that for which He has sent down no authority to you”—that is, no proof or evidence—though He is the Subduer, fully able over all things. “Which of the two groups, then, is more entitled”—that is, more deserving—“to security: I and the people of my religion, or you, if you only knew?”
