for you, they would be unable to do so. And were they to strive to harm you with something Allah, exalted is He, had not decreed against you, they would be unable to do so. If you are able to act with patience and certainty, then do so. But if you are unable, then be patient, for there is much good in patiently bearing what you dislike. Know that victory comes with patience, relief comes with distress, and ease comes with hardship.” (1)
“And He is the Subduer above His servants, and He is the All-Wise, the All-Aware. (18)”
(1) Imam Ahmad narrated it in al-Musnad, through Hanish al-Sanani from Ibn Abbas, 1:307; and al-Tirmidhi narrated it in abbreviated form in the Book of the Resurrection, in the chapter beginning, “Bishr ibn Hilal narrated to us,” 7:219-220. He said: “This is a hasan sahih (sound and authentic) hadith.” A similar report occurs in al-Musnad, 1:293-303. Abd ibn Humayd also narrated it in al-Muntakhab, p. 214. Ibn al-Athir mentioned it in Jami al-Usul, in wording similar to that of the author, and said: “Razin mentioned this hadith, but I did not find it in any of the six primary collections except for that which al-Tirmidhi narrated; this is its wording.” He then cited al-Tirmidhi’s narration. See Jami al-Usul, 11:686. Abd ibn Humayd also narrated it in his Musnad through a weak chain. In al-Ahadith al-Kulliyyah, Ibn al-Salah attributed it to Abd ibn Humayd and others. This hadith has been narrated from Ibn Abbas through numerous routes ... The route of Hanish, transmitted by al-Tirmidhi, is sound and good. See Ibn Rajab, Jami al-Ulum wa-al-Hikam, p. 174.
