“When they are told, ‘Come to what Allah has sent down and to the Messenger,’ they say, ‘What we found our forefathers following is enough for us.’ Even if their forefathers knew nothing and were not rightly guided?” (104)
As for His saying, exalted is He, “When they are told, ‘Come to what Allah has sent down and to the Messenger’”: that is, concerning the permissibility of crops and livestock, and the clarification of the revealed laws and rulings. “They say, ‘What we found our forefathers following is enough for us’”—that is, in matters of religion. Allah, exalted is He, says: “Even if their forefathers knew nothing and were not rightly guided?”
