It was also said: “and to guide you” means to guide you to the upright religion, which is the religion of Abraham, peace be upon him. “And to turn to you in mercy” means to pardon what you committed before He made it clear to you. It was also said: He brings you back from the disobedience upon which you had been to obedience to Him. And it was said: He grants you success in repentance. “And Allah is All-Knowing” of what benefits His servants in the affairs of their religion and worldly life, “All-Wise” in the matters He has ordained for them.
وَقِيلَ: وَيَهْدِيَكُمُ الْمِلَّةَ الْحَنِيفِيَّةَ وَهِيَ مِلَّةُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ﵇، ﴿وَيَتُوبَ عَلَيْكُمْ﴾ وَيَتَجَاوَزَ عَنْكُمْ مَا أَصَبْتُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُبَيِّنَ لَكُمْ، وَقِيلَ: يَرْجِعُ بِكُمْ مِنَ الْمَعْصِيَةِ الَّتِي كُنْتُمْ عَلَيْهَا إِلَى طَاعَتِهِ، وَقِيلَ: يُوَفِّقُكُمْ لِلتَّوْبَةِ ﴿وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ﴾ بِمَصَالِحِ عِبَادِهِ فِي أَمْرِ دِينِهِمْ وَدُنْيَاهُمْ، ﴿حَكِيمٌ﴾ فِيمَا دَبَّرَ مِنْ أُمُورِهِمْ.
