(1) Ibn Hajar states in al-Kafi al-Shaf, p. 29: “Al-Tabari narrated it through Yunus ibn Abd al-Ala, from Ibn Wahb, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father. Ibn Ishaq also narrated it in al-Maghazi, and Ibn Hisham cited it without mentioning Ibn Ishaq’s chain of transmission. Al-Tha‘labi and al-Wahidi mentioned it in their works on the occasions of revelation, on the authority of Zayd ibn Aslam, without a chain of transmission.” Al-Suyuti also attributed it to Ibn al-Mundhir, Ibn Abi Hatim, and Abu al-Shaykh. See al-Durr al-Manthur, 4:278-279; al-Wahidi, Asbab al-Nuzul, pp. 149-150; al-Tabari, 7:55-56; and Sirat Ibn Hisham, 2:556-557.
