in the strictness of the guarding. At times they would eavesdrop, but when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was sent (1), they were altogether prevented from doing so (2). Then they said:

“And we do not know whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them right guidance (10). And among us are the righteous, and among us are others besides that; we have been of diverse ways (11). And we have become certain that we can never frustrate Allah on earth, nor can we escape Him by flight (12). And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. Whoever believes in his Lord will fear neither deprivation nor burden (13).”
