Tafsir al-BaghawiAl-Baghawi

“Whenever I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, drew their garments over themselves, persisted, and grew ever more arrogant. (7) Then I called them openly. (8) Then I spoke to them publicly and addressed them privately. (9) And I said, ‘Seek your Lord’s forgiveness, for He is ever Most Forgiving.’ (10)”
