Tafsir al-BaghawiAl-Baghawi

The first is that it is an intensive form in the active sense: that is, all the prophets abundantly praised Allah, exalted is He, while he praised Allah more than any of them. The second is that it is an intensive form in the passive sense: that is, all the prophets are praised for the praiseworthy qualities they possess, while he is the most highly praised among them (1) and possesses most fully the virtues and noble qualities for which one is praised.

“But when he came to them with clear proofs, they said, ‘This is obvious magic.’”

“And who does greater wrong than one who fabricates lies against Allah while being called to Islam? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. They seek to extinguish Allah’s light with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even though the disbelievers detest it.”

“He is the One Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, to make it prevail over every religion, even though the polytheists detest it.” “O you who believe! Shall I direct you to a trade that will save you from a painful punishment?” Ibn Amir recited “save you” with consonant doubling, while the others recited it without doubling. This was revealed when they said, “If only we knew which deeds are most beloved to Allah, exalted is He, we would perform them.” (2) He likened it to a trade because through it they gain Allah’s pleasure, attain His Paradise, and are saved from the Fire. He then explained that trade, saying:

“You believe in Allah and His Messenger and strive in Allah’s cause with your wealth and your lives. That is better for you, if only you knew. He will forgive you your sins and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow, and into fine dwellings in Gardens of perpetual residence. That is the supreme triumph.”
