“O Prophet, when believing women come to you pledging that they will not associate anything with Allah, nor steal, nor commit adultery, nor kill their children, nor bring forth a slander that they fabricate between their hands and feet, nor disobey you in what is right, then accept their pledge and seek Allah’s forgiveness for them. Indeed, Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (12)
Allah, exalted is He, says: “O Prophet, when believing women come to you pledging to you…” This took place on the day of the Conquest of Mecca, after the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had finished taking the pledge from the men. He was on Mount Safa, while Umar ibn al-Khattab stood below him, taking the women’s pledge at the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and conveying his words to them. Hind, the daughter of Utbah and wife of Abu Sufyan, was among the women, veiled and in disguise, fearing that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would recognize her. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “I take your pledge that you will not associate with Allah”
