al-Aṣamm informed us; Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Hakam informed us; my father and Shu‘ayb said: al-Layth informed us, from Yazid ibn al-Had, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from Safwan ibn Abi Yazid, from al-Qa‘qa‘—that is, Ibn al-Lajlaj—from Abu Hurayrah, that he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: “The dust raised in the path of Allah and the smoke of Hellfire will never come together within a servant; nor will avarice and faith ever come together in a servant’s heart.” (1)

الْأَصَمُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبِي وَشُعَيْبُ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ ابن الْهَادِ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ هُوَ ابْنُ اللَّجْلَاجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: "لَا يَجْتَمِعُ غُبَارٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَدُخَانُ جَهَنَّمَ فِي جَوْفِ عَبْدٍ أَبَدًا، وَلَا يَجْتَمِعُ الشُّحُّ وَالْإِيمَانُ فِي قَلْبِ عَبْدٍ أَبَدًا" (١) .
