“And He has full knowledge of all things.” Isma‘il ibn ‘Abd al-Qahir informed us; ‘Abd al-Ghaffar ibn Muhammad informed us; Muhammad ibn ‘Isa al-Juludi informed us; Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Sufyan related to us; Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj related to us; Zuhayr ibn Harb related to me; Jarir related to us, from Suhayl, who said:
Abu Salih would instruct us, whenever one of us wished to sleep, to lie down on his right side and then say: “O Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth, and Lord of the Magnificent Throne; our Lord and the Lord of all things; Splitter of the grain and the date-stone; Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran: I seek refuge in You from the evil of every evil being whose forelock You hold. You are the First, and there is nothing before You; You are the Last, and there is nothing after You; You are the Manifest, and there is nothing above You; and You are the Hidden, and there is nothing beneath You. Settle my debt for me and enrich me against poverty.” (1)
This was also narrated from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
