Tafsir al-BaghawiAl-Baghawi

Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Duhaym al-Shaybani informed us; Ahmad ibn Hazim ibn Abi Gharazah informed us; Ya'la ibn Ubayd, [and Ubayd Allah] (1) ibn Musa, and Abu Nu'aym narrated to us from Sufyan, from Mansur, from Rib'i ibn Hirash, from a man, from Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “A servant does not believe until he believes in four matters: that he testifies that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah, whom He sent with the truth; that he believes in the resurrection after death ⦗147/a⦘; and that he believes in the divine decree”—[Ubayd Allah] (2) added—“its good and its evil.” (3)

Abu Dawud also narrated it from Shu'bah, from Mansur, and said: “From Rib'i, from Ali,” without mentioning “from a man”; and this is more authentic. (4)
