Mujahid said: “After the prostrations” means glorifying Allah verbally at the conclusion of the prescribed prayers.
Abu al-Husayn Tahir ibn al-Husayn al-Ruqi al-Tusi informed us concerning this; Abu al-Hasan Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub informed us; Muhammad ibn Yusuf informed us; Muhammad ibn Ayyub narrated to us; Musaddad informed us; Khalid—namely, Ibn Abd Allah—narrated to us; Suhayl narrated to us from Abu ‘Ubayd, from ‘Ata’ ibn Yazid, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whoever says, ‘Glory be to Allah,’ thirty-three times at the end of every prayer; says, ‘Allah is Most Great,’ thirty-three times; and says, ‘Praise be to Allah,’ thirty-three times—making ninety-nine in all—and then completes one hundred by saying: ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, without partner. To Him belong all dominion and all praise, and He is fully capable of all things’—his sins will be forgiven, even if they are like the foam of the sea.” (1)
Abd al-Wahid al-Malihi informed us; Ahmad ibn Abd Allah al-Na‘imi informed us; Muhammad ibn Yusuf informed us; Muhammad ibn Isma‘il narrated to us; Ishaq narrated to us; Yazid informed us; Warqa’ informed us from Sumayy, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: They said, “Messenger of Allah, the people of wealth have taken the higher ranks and everlasting bliss.” He said, “How is that?” They said, “They prayed as we prayed, strove as we strove, and spent from the surplus of their wealth, whereas we have no wealth.” He said: “Shall I not tell you of something by which you may catch up with those who preceded you, surpass those who come after you, and none will bring the like of what you have brought except one who does the same: say, ‘Glory be to Allah,’ ten times after every prayer; say, ‘Praise be to Allah,’ ten times; and say, ‘Allah is Most Great,’ ten times.” (2)
His words, exalted is He:
“Listen for the Day when the Caller will call from a nearby place, the Day they hear the Blast in truth: that is the Day of Emergence.” (41–42)
“Listen for the Day when the Caller will call”: that is, listen, O Muhammad, for the cry of the Resurrection and rising from the dead, on the Day when the Caller calls. Muqatil said: This means Israfil, who will call for the gathering: “O decayed bones, severed limbs, scattered flesh, and dispersed hair! Allah commands you to come together for the final judgment.” “From a nearby place”: from the rock of Jerusalem, which lies at the center of the earth. Al-Kalbi said: It is the nearest point on earth to heaven, by eighteen miles.
“The Day they hear the Blast in truth”: this is the final blast. “That is the Day of Emergence”: from the graves.
