Shu'ayb ibn Safwan narrated to us from Abd al-Malik ibn Umayr, from Rib'i ibn Hirash, from Uqbah ibn Amr ibn Masud al-Ansari, who said: I went with him to Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman. Uqbah said to him, “Tell me what you heard from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, concerning the Dajjal.” He said: “The Dajjal will emerge, and he will have with him water and fire. What people see as water will be a burning fire, while what people see as fire will be cool, fresh water. Whoever among you lives to see that should throw himself into what he sees as fire, for it is wholesome, fresh water.” Uqbah said, “I too heard it, thereby confirming Hudhayfah.” (1)
