Asma said: Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, went out to attend to his need. When he returned, the people were overcome with anxiety and distress at what he had told them. She said: He took hold of the two sides of the doorway and said, “What is the matter, Asma?” I said, “Messenger of Allah, you have torn our hearts out by mentioning the Dajjal.” He said: “If he emerges while I am alive, I will contend with him; otherwise, my Lord will be my successor over every believer.”
