Mujahid and Shahr ibn Hawshab said: They are those who show off. (1)
“For them is a severe punishment, and the plotting of such people will come to ruin”: it will be nullified and perish in the Hereafter.
“And Allah created you from dust, then from a drop of fluid, then made you into pairs. No female conceives or gives birth except with His knowledge. No aged person is granted a long life, nor is anything reduced from his lifespan, except that it is in a Record. Indeed, that is easy for Allah.” (11)

وَقَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: وَشَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ: هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الرِّيَاءِ. (١)
﴿لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَكْرُ أُولَئِكَ هُوَ يَبُورُ﴾ يُبْطَلُ وَيُهْلَكُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ.
﴿وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ أُنْثَى وَلَا تَضَعُ إِلَّا بِعِلْمِهِ وَمَا يُعَمَّرُ مِنْ مُعَمَّرٍ وَلَا يُنْقَصُ مِنْ عُمُرِهِ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ (١١) ﴾
