Abu Bakr ibn Abd Allah ibn Abi Tawbah informed us; Abu Tahir Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn al-Harith informed us; Abu al-Hasan Muhammad ibn Ya'qub al-Kisa'i informed us; Abd Allah ibn Mahmud informed us; [Ibrahim Abd Allah al-Khallal informed us] (1); Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak informed us, from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Thabit al-Bunani, from Sulayman, the freedman of al-Hasan ibn Ali, from Abd Allah ibn Abi Talhah, from his father, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who came one day with glad tidings visible upon his face and said: “Gabriel came to me and said: [Indeed, your Lord says:] (2) Would it not please you, O Muhammad, that whenever anyone from your Ummah invokes blessings upon you, I bestow blessings upon him tenfold; [and whenever anyone from your Ummah sends greetings of peace upon you, I send greetings of peace upon him tenfold] (3)?” (4)
Abd al-Wahid al-Malihi informed us; Abu Muhammad Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Shurayh informed us; Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi informed us; Ali ibn al-Ja'd informed us; Shu'bah informed us, from Asim—who was Ibn Ubayd Allah—who said: I heard Abd Allah ibn Amir ibn Rabi'ah relate from his father that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: “Whoever invokes blessings upon me once, the angels invoke blessings upon him for as long as he invokes blessings upon me. So let the servant do little of that or much.” (5)
Abu al-Qasim Yahya ibn Ali al-Kushmīhanī related to us; Janah ibn Yazid al-Muharibi informed us in Kufah; Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Duhaym al-Shaybani informed us; Ibn Hazim informed us; Abd Allah ibn Musa ⦗85/b⦘ and Abu Nu'aym informed us, from Sufyan, from Ubayd Allah ibn al-Sa'ib, from Zadhan, from Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Allah has angels who travel throughout the earth, conveying to me the greetings of peace sent by my Ummah.” (6)

(4) Recorded by al-Nasai in the Book of Forgetfulness, chapter: “The virtue of invoking blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,” 3:50; Ahmad, 4:29-30; al-Hakim, 2:420; Ibn Hibban in Mawarid al-Zaman, no. 2391, p. 594; and Ismail al-Qadi in Fadl al-Salat ala al-Nabi, nos. 1-2. It is a sahih hadith through its various chains. It was also recorded by the author in Sharh al-Sunnah, 3:196. See Ibn al-Qayyim, Jala al-Afham, pp. 63-94.
(5) Recorded by Ibn Majah in the Book of Establishing the Prayer, chapter: “Invoking blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,” no. 907, 1:294. Al-Zawaid states: “Its chain is weak because of Asim ibn Ubayd Allah, concerning whom al-Bukhari and others said: ‘His hadith is rejected.’” It was also recorded by Abu Nuaym in al-Hilyah, 1:180; and by the author in Sharh al-Sunnah, 3:198. Al-Sakhawi said in al-Qawl al-Badi, p. 169: “It was narrated by Said ibn Mansur, Ahmad, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, al-Bazzar, Ibn Majah, al-Tayalisi, Abu Nuaym, Ibn Abi Asim, al-Taymi, and al-Rashid al-Attar. Its chain contains Asim ibn Ubayd Allah. Although weak in hadith, some scholars accepted his reports, and al-Tirmidhi authenticated a hadith of his. This particular hadith is hasan when supported by corroborating reports, as al-Mundhiri stated. Our teacher likewise graded this hadith as hasan, although the reports from Asim concerning it differ, as previously mentioned in the hadith of Umar. However, al-Tabarani narrated it through another route with a weak chain. Success is from Allah.”
(6) Recorded by al-Nasai in the Book of Forgetfulness, chapter: “Sending greetings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,” 3:43; al-Darimi, 2:225; Ahmad, 1:387, 441; Ibn Hibban in Mawarid al-Zaman, no. 2393, p. 595; Ismail al-Qadi in Fadl al-Salat ala al-Nabi, no. 22, p. 11; and by the author in Sharh al-Sunnah, 3:197. Al-Hakim authenticated it, 2:421, and al-Dhahabi concurred. Ibn al-Qayyim said in Jala al-Afham, p. 60: “This is a sahih chain.”
