four thousand people from among those who had believed in Salih escaped the punishment. They came to Hadramawt with Salih, and when they arrived there, Salih died. It was therefore called Hadramawt, because Salih died when he came there. They built Hadura’ and settled by this well, appointing a man as their ruler. They remained for a long time and multiplied until they became numerous. Then they worshipped idols and disbelieved, so Allah sent them a prophet named Hanzalah ibn Safwan, who was a porter among them. They killed him in the marketplace, so Allah destroyed them; their well was abandoned, and their palaces fell into ruin (1).
