Abd al-Wahid ibn Ahmad al-Mulayhi informed us; Abu Mansur Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Sam'an informed us; Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abd al-Jabbar al-Rayani related to us; Humayd ibn Zanjawayh related to us; Hafs ibn Umar related to us; Hammam related to us, from Qatadah; Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd al-Ghatafani related to us, from Ma'dan ibn Abi Talhah, from Abu al-Darda, who related it from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: “Whoever memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Surah al-Kahf will be protected from the trial of the Dajjal.” (1)
Abd al-Wahid al-Mulayhi informed us; Abu Mansur al-Sam'ani informed us; Abu Ja'far al-Rayani related to us; Humayd ibn Zanjawayh related to us; Abu al-Aswad related to us; Ibn Lahi'ah related to us, from Ziyad, from Sahl—who was Ibn Mu'adh—from his father, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: “Whoever recites the beginning and end of Surah al-Kahf will have a light extending from his feet to his head; (2) and whoever recites it in its entirety will have a light extending from the earth to the heaven.” (3) (4)

Its completion coincided with [the date] in Jerusalem, at the Salahiyyah School—may Allah Most High preserve it—on the thirteenth of Shawwal, in the year 825 AH. Written by the servant needy of Allah, the Self-Sufficient: Sulayman ibn Ahmad ibn Ahmad ibn Sulayman al-Haddadi al-Qurashi, praising Allah Most High and invoking blessings upon His Prophet Muhammad, his family, his Companions, and his wives. It is followed by the second half, beginning with Surat Maryam. May Allah forgive him, his parents, and all the Muslims. Amin.” This is followed by a line recording ownership of the copy by one hoping for his Lord’s pardon and forgiveness: Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Hariri—may Allah pardon him.
