“Indeed, We established him in the land and gave him the means to all things.” (84)
His saying, may He be exalted: “Indeed, We established him in the land” means: We made it accessible to him. Establishment means laying the means in readiness.
Ali said: “He subjected the clouds to him, and he rode upon them; He extended for him the means, and spread out light for him, so that night and day were alike to him.” This is the meaning of his being established in the land: Allah made travel through it easy for him and made its roads passable for him.
“And gave him of all things” means: We gave him of everything that people need.
﴿إِنَّا مَكَّنَّا لَهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَآتَيْنَاهُ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ سَبَبًا (٨٤) ﴾
قَوْلُهُ ﷿ ﴿إِنَّا مَكَّنَّا لَهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ﴾ أَوْطَأْنَا، وَالتَّمْكِينُ: تَمْهِيدُ الْأَسْبَابِ. قَالَ عَلِيٌّ: سَخَّرَ لَهُ السَّحَابَ فَحَمَلَهُ عَلَيْهَا، وَمَدَّ لَهُ فِي الْأَسْبَابِ، وَبَسَطَ لَهُ النُّورَ، فَكَانَ اللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ عَلَيْهِ سَوَاءً، فَهَذَا مَعْنَى تَمْكِينِهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ أَنَّهُ سَهَّلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّيْرَ فِيهَا وَذَلَّلَ لَهُ طُرُقَهَا.
﴿وَآتَيْنَاهُ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ﴾ أَيْ: أَعْطَيْنَاهُ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ يَحْتَاجُ إِلَيْهِ الْخَلْقُ.
