It was narrated from Ja‘far ibn Muhammad that Satan sits upon a man’s penis; if he does not say, “Bismillah,” Satan joins him in having intercourse with his wife and ejaculates into her vagina just as the man ejaculates.
It is related in some reports: “Among you are mughrabun.” It was asked, “Who are the mughrabun?” He said, “Those in whom the jinn have a share.” (1)
It is also related that a man said to Ibn Abbas, “My wife awoke with a flame of fire in her vagina.” He replied, “That is from intercourse by the jinn.”
It is reported that when Iblis was sent down to the earth, he said, “My Lord, You expelled me from Paradise on account of Adam, so give me power over him and his offspring.” He said, “You have been given power.” He said, “I cannot prevail over him except through You, so grant me more.” He said, “Incite whomever of them you can with your voice”—the verse. Adam then said, “My Lord, You have given Iblis power over me and my offspring, and I cannot withstand him except through You.” He said, “No child will be born to you except that I appoint guardians to protect him.” Adam said, “Grant me more.” He said, “A good deed is multiplied tenfold, whereas an evil deed is recompensed only in its like.” Adam said, “Grant me more.” He said, “Repentance is open so long as the soul remains in the body.” Adam said, “Grant me more.” He said, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves”—the verse. (2) (al-Zumar 39:53)
It is related that Iblis said, “My Lord, You have sent prophets and revealed books; so what is my recitation?” He said, “Poetry.” He said, “What is my book?” He said, “Tattooing.” He said, “Who are my messengers?” He said, “Soothsayers.” He said, “Where is my dwelling?” He said, “Bathhouses.” He said, “Where is my gathering-place?” He said, “Marketplaces.” He said, “What is my food?” He said, “Whatever My name has not been mentioned over.” He said, “What is my drink?” He said, “Every intoxicant.” He said, “What are my snares?” He said, “Women.” He said, “What is my call to prayer?” He said, “Wind instruments.” (3)
His words, exalted is He: “And promise them”—that is, promise them pleasing things in return for obeying you. It was also said: Tell them, “There is no Paradise, no Fire, and no resurrection.”
“But Satan promises them nothing but delusion.” Delusion is the embellishment of falsehood so that it is thought to be truth.
If it is asked: How can Allah mention these matters when He says, “Allah does not command indecency” (al-A‘raf 7:28)?
The answer is that this is by way of threat, like His words, exalted is He: “Do whatever you wish” (Fussilat 41:40), and like someone saying, “Do whatever you wish, and you will see.” (4)
