of good or evil. It is also said to mean that it shall behold. “And they will be returned to Allah”—that is, to His judgement, so that He alone will judge between them—“their true Master,” who manages and possesses their affairs. If it is asked: Has He not said, “And the disbelievers have no protector” (Muhammad 47:11)? The answer is that protector there means helper, whereas here it means owner. “And whatever they used to fabricate will vanish from them”: that is, the lies they used to invent in this world.

“Say, ‘Who provides for you from heaven and earth? Or who has power over hearing and sight? Who brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living? And who governs all affairs?’ They will say, ‘Allah.’ So say, ‘Will you not then fear Him?’ (31) That is Allah, your true Lord. What is there beyond the truth except error? So how are you turned away? (32) Thus has your Lord’s word been proven true against those who defiantly disobey: they will not believe. (33)”
