Allah’s prophets previously, if you were believers in the Torah, when you had been forbidden therein to kill the prophets.
“Indeed, Moses came to you with clear proofs; then, after he had gone, you took up the calf, doing wrong. And when We took your covenant and raised the Mount above you, saying, ‘Hold firmly to what We have given you and listen,’ they said, ‘We hear and disobey.’ Their hearts were made to imbibe the calf because of their disbelief. Say, ‘How evil is that to which your faith commands you, if you are believers!’” (92–93)
﴿أَنْبِيَاءَ اللَّهِ مِنْ قَبْلُ﴾ وَلِمَ أَصْلُهُ لِمَا فَحُذِفَتِ الْأَلِفُ فَرْقًا بَيْنَ الْجَرِّ وَالِاسْتِفْهَامِ كَقَوْلِهِمْ فِيمَ وَبِمَ؟ ﴿إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ﴾ بِالتَّوْرَاةِ، وَقَدْ نُهِيتُمْ فِيهَا عَنْ قَتْلِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ ﵈.
﴿وَلَقَدْ جَاءَكُمْ مُوسَى بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ ثُمَّ اتَّخَذْتُمُ الْعِجْلَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَأَنْتُمْ ظَالِمُونَ (٩٢) وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَكُمْ وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَكُمُ الطُّورَ خُذُوا مَا آتَيْنَاكُمْ بِقُوَّةٍ وَاسْمَعُوا قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَأُشْرِبُوا فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الْعِجْلَ بِكُفْرِهِمْ قُلْ بِئْسَمَا يَأْمُرُكُمْ بِهِ إِيمَانُكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ (٩٣) ﴾
