—and the rest of the verse. We have narrated from Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Spoils of war have been made lawful for me, whereas they were not made lawful for anyone before me.” (1)
Hassan ibn Sa‘id al-Mani‘i informed us; Abu Tahir al-Ziyadi related to us; Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Qattan related to us; Ahmad ibn Yusuf al-Sulami related to us; Abd al-Razzaq related to us; Ma‘mar informed us from Hammam, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah said: “Spoils of war were not made lawful for anyone before us. This is because Allah saw our weakness and incapacity, and so He made them lawful and wholesome for us.” (2)

الْآيَةَ. وَرَوَيْنَا عَنْ جَابِرٍ ﵁ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ: "أُحِلَّتْ لِي الْغَنَائِمُ وَلَمْ تَحِلَ لِأَحَدٍ قَبْلِي" (١) .
أَخْبَرَنَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْمَنِيعِيُّ، أَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الزِّيَادِيُّ، أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْقَطَّانُ، ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ السُّلَمِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ هَمَّامٍ، ثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ: "لَمْ تَحِلَّ الْغَنَائِمُ لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا، وَذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ رَأَى ضَعْفَنَا وَعَجْزَنَا فَطَيَّبَهَا لَنَا". (٢) .
