47 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Abu ʿAbd Allah Muhammad ibn Mansur al-Naysaburi related to us, al-Walid related to us, from al-Haytham ibn Jammaz, from Muhammad ibn Yahya, who said:

We said to al-Dahhak ibn Muzahim, “Abu al-Qasim, so-and-so is exceptionally devoted, scrupulous, and a fine reciter.” He asked, “How is his intellect?”

We replied, “We are telling you about his worship, his piety, and his recitation, yet you ask about his intellect!” He answered, “Woe to you! A fool, through his foolishness, can inflict harm that a sinner cannot reach through his sinfulness.”
