Al-'Aql wa-FadluhIbn Abi al-Dunya
  1. ‘Abd Allah narrated to us—and Muhammad ibn al-Husayn likewise said: Abu al-Walid al-Kalbi related to me, saying that Sadaqah ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Dimashqi told him—

The scholars used to say, “It is not fitting for an intelligent person to cling to an opinion of his own until he has weighed it against the people of sound understanding among his brothers.”

They would also say, “The practical mastery of a matter cannot be achieved by a single intellect.”

And they said as well, “Two minds working together on one issue are more effective in reaching what is right than one mind alone.”
