12 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Safwan ibn ʿIsa related to us, from Ismaʿil al-Makki, from al-Qasim ibn Abi Bazzah, that a man from Banu Qushayr came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, “During the jāhiliyyah (pre-Islamic age of ignorance) we used to worship idols, believing they could harm and benefit.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “Successful indeed is the one whom Allah has endowed with intellect.”
