107 – Abu al-Faraj Muhammad informed us; Ahmad narrated to us; al-Harith ibn Muhammad narrated to us; ʿAbd al-ʿAziz ibn Aban narrated to us; Shibl ibn ʿAbbad narrated to me, and ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Three qualities—whoever is deprived of them is deprived of the best of this world and the Hereafter: an intellect with which he deals with people, forbearance with which he repels the ignorant, and waraʿ (scrupulous piety) that holds him back from sin.”
