4 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: ʿAli ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; he said: Muslim ibn Khalid, on the authority of al-ʿAlaʾ ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “A person’s true nobility lies in his religion, his dignity lies in his intellect, and his lineage lies in his character.”
