83 – (Sound). ʿAlī (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood for prayer he would say:
“I have turned my face toward the One who originated the heavens and the earth, devoting myself to Him alone, and I am not of those who associate others with Him. Indeed, my prayer, my rites, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of all creation; He has no partner. Thus have I been commanded, and I am of those who submit.
O Allah, You are the Sovereign; there is no god but You. You are my Lord and I am Your servant. I have wronged myself and confess my sin, so forgive all my sins, for none forgives sins except You.
Guide me to the finest character, for none guides to it except You; and turn me away from its worst, for none turns me away from it except You.
Here I am at Your service, ever ready to obey; all goodness is in Your hands, and evil is not attributable to You. I depend upon You and shall return to You. Blessed and Exalted are You. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You.”
It is said that he used this supplication in the night prayer. ⦗100⦘
