31 – (sound) Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
A certain visitor came to him and began scooping up handfuls from the charity over which the Prophet ﷺ had placed him in charge, night after night. When the third night arrived, he said, “I am definitely going to take you before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ!” The man replied, “Release me, and I will teach you some words by which Allah will benefit you.” (The Companions were always most eager for good.) He then said, “When you lie down in your bed, recite Āyat al-Kursī—‘Allah, there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting…’—to its conclusion; a protector from Allah will remain with you, and no devil will approach you until morning.”
Later the Prophet ﷺ said, “He spoke the truth, though he is an inveterate liar; that was a devil.” ⦗75⦘
