Takhrij al-Kalim al-TayyibIbn Taimiya

28 – (Weak) Ṭalq ibn Ḥabīb said: A man came to Abū al-Dardāʾ (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, “Abū al-Dardāʾ, your house has burned down.” He replied, “It has not burned; Allah would never do that on account of some words I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Whoever recites them at the start of the day will not be afflicted by any calamity until evening, and whoever recites them at the end of the day will not be afflicted by any calamity until morning:

‘O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. In You I place my trust, and You are Lord of the Mighty Throne. Whatever You will comes to pass, and whatever You do not will does not occur. There is no power and no strength except through Allah, the Most High, the Magnificent. I know that Allah is capable of all things and that Allah encompasses all things in knowledge. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own self and from the evil of every creature whose forelock You hold. Truly, my Lord is on a straight path.’ ⦗74⦘
